Welcome to this week's edition of tech weekly round up.
What is the world’s biggest global brand? Nope! not
tekhabit.At least, not yet.
For the past 13 years, Coca-Cola has held the top spot in
Global Branding as per Interbrand’s annual ranking, but not this year. After
growing its brand value by a whopping 28%, Apple bettered its 2nd-place ranking
last year to topple Coca-Cola and end over a decade of monotony at the top.
Of Apple’s steady rise to the top of their list,
Interbrand’s report said:
“Few brands have
enabled so many people to do so much so easily, which is why Apple has legions
of adoring fans, as evidenced by the record-breaking launch of the iPhone
5c/5s… From our perspective, Apple’s internal brand strength has remained
steady. CEO Tim Cook has assembled a solid team that is aligned around the
Apple vision, which has allowed them to deliver against the promise time and
time again. There’s been a lot of change at the top in the last 12 months, but
the alignment of both hardware and software design under Jonathan Ive is a
major step toward maintaining focus.”
Google also leap-frogged Coca-Cola this year, hurling the
beverage-maker into third.(Yaay!! Go
Google!! *ahem* sorry.) Tech giants IBM and Microsoft also featured in the top
five, Microsoft retaining their position and IBM missing a step this year. The
full list can be found here.
HP Chromebook 11
HP Chromebook 11
Google and HP have launched the new light weight,
low-powered chrome book which ships this week for $279. Chrome Book 11 is essentially a successor to last year’s $250
Chromebook from Samsung, with the same ARM-based
Exynos 5250 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and two USB ports. There's no touch screen, but the 11.6-inch IPS
display boasts a decent 1,366x768-pixel resolution. Unfortunately, the HP
Chromebook has no SD card slot and no full-size HDMI port..i think the most
impressive part is the fact that the new Chromebook charges via micro-USB, so Android
phone or tablet users don’t have to carry a separate charger.Chromebook 11 comes with 100GB of Google Drive
storage for two years and 12 free GoGo in-flight Internet sessions. Read more here.
Office for iPad to debut after touch-friendly Windows version
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has this
week revealed that Microsoft is currently developing an Office application
suite designed specifically for use on Apple’s
iPad tablet. Ballmer made the announcement while speaking at today’s Gartner
event in Florida, revealing that the new Microsoft Office iPad application
would feature a touch-first user interface and would be released on to iOS
devices after the new touch-first user interface has made its way to Windows
devices. Microsoft has previously released an Office version for iPhone without support for the iPad.read full
